Maya is an MA student in Political Science (Thesis) program, with the Development Studies Option and concentration in International Relations. She received her BA in Political Science (International Studies) and Foreign Languages (French) from Eastern Illinois University. Her BA Honors Thesis focused on “The Role of Language Education in Peacebuilding: the Case of Cyprus”. During her undergraduate study she also participated in Model UN, served as President of the French Club, and taught French and Turkish languages to visiting students. Her current research interests include diplomacy, peacebuilding, and intercultural exchanges.

Research interests: Peacekeeping, international law, international mediation, and frozen conflicts
