Ileana Nicolau
Ileana Nicolau has joined the research team “Protecting the Internally Displaced” as a post-doctoral researcher in April 2024. Her research interests lie in internal displacement, and more specifically, IDP policies and politics, and their relationship with state sovereignty. She received her PhD in Political and Social Sciences on IDP protection norms in Colombia, Peru, and Kenya, at the European University Institute. She also holds a bachelor's in Latin-American studies and a master’s in international security from Sciences Po. Ileana has taught on international and forced migration and has worked on related issues for organisations such as UNHCR, IDMC, and the European Commission.
