Simon Pierre Boulanger Martel est candidat au doctorat au Département de science politique de l’Université de Montréal et titulaire d’une bourse Joseph-Armand Bombardier du CRSH. Ses champs d’intérêt incluent les processus de désarmement, de démobilisation et de réintégration post-conflit, la transformation des groupes armés en partis politiques ainsi que la sociologie politique des guerres civiles. La thèse de doctorat de Simon Pierre porte sur ce que deviennent les militants provenant de partis politiques ayant eu des liens avec des groupes armés après le déclin de leur parti. Son projet, sous la supervision de Lee JM Seymour et Marie-Joëlle Zahar, étudie les trajectoires des militants de l’Alianza-Democratica / M-19 et de l’Unión Patriótica en Colombie. Simon Pierre est titulaire d’une maîtrise en études sur la paix et les conflits du Department of Peace and Conflict Research de l’Université d’Uppsala et d’un baccalauréat en science politique de l’Université Laval. Il est également membre du Research School on Peace and Conflict du Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).

Simon Pierre Boulanger Martel is a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science at Université de Montréal and a recipient of a SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier fellowship. His areas of interest include post-conflict disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration processes, the transformation of rebel groups into political parties as well as the political sociology of civil wars. Simon Pierre’s PhD thesis investigates what becomes of militants from political parties with former ties to armed groups after the decline of their party. His project, under the supervision of Lee JM Seymour and Marie-Joëlle Zahar, focusses on the trajectories of militants from the Alianza-Democratica / M-19 and the Unión Patriótica in Colombia. Simon Pierre holds a master in peace and conflict studies from the Uppsala University Department of Peace and Conflict Research and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Laval University. He is also a member of the Research School on Peace and Conflict of the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
