Lou Pingeot is a Ph.D student in Political Science at McGill University and works under the supervision of Vincent Pouliot. A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, she also has experience in the policy world at UN headquarters in New York and is the author of several policy reports on topics ranging from the UN’s new development agenda to the “Responsibility to Protect” and the use of private security by the UN. Some of her academic work has appeared in Globalizations and in book chapters. She is interested in global governance, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, humanitarian and development aid, and interpretive and ethnographic approaches in international relations. Her doctoral research posits that, to understand global governance, we need to study how its “footsoldiers” implement it on the ground and cope with the contradictory demands of global governors and recipient populations. She holds a Vanier Scholarship for 2015-2018.

Lou Pingeot est étudiante en doctorat en Science Politique à McGill et travaille sous la direction de Vincent Pouliot. Diplômée de Sciences Po Paris, elle a également travaillé pour une ONG au siège de l’ONU à New York et a publié des analyses sur l’agenda de développement de l’ONU, la « Responsabilité de Protéger » et l’usage de services de sécurité privée par l’ONU. Son travail universitaire a été publié dans Globalizations et des chapitres d’ouvrage. Elle s’intéresse à la gouvernance globale, le maintien de la paix et le « peacebuilding », l’aide humanitaire et de développement, et les approches interprétatives et ethnographiques dans les Relations Internationales. Sa thèse postule que, pour comprendre la gouvernance globale, nous devons étudier comment elle est mise en œuvre sur le terrain par des individus qui doivent négocier les demandes contradictoires des « global governors » et des populations ciblées. Sa recherche est soutenue par une bourse d’études supérieures du Canada Vanier pour 2015-2018.
