Brendon Novel est doctorant à l’Université de Montréal. Ses recherches portent sur les questions de sécurité internationale, de politique étrangère et plus particulièrement des États « de facto ». Il s’intéresse également aux régions du Golfe Arabo-Persique et à la Corne de l’Afrique qui ont fait l’objet de son mémoire de Maîtrise soutenu par une bourse du Koweit Program at Sciences Po. Il a ainsi pu se rendre au Soudan, à Djibouti, en Somalie, au Qatar et aux Émirats arabes unis. Il a par ailleurs réalisé un stage à l’Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) à Abu Dhabi, ville dans laquelle il a récemment travaillé au sein de la Délégation de l’Union européenne. Brendon est diplômé d’un Master de l’école des affaires internationales de Sciences Po Paris (PSIA) où il a réalisé toutes ses études. Il parle français, anglais et apprend l’arabe.

Brendon Novel is a first year Ph.D. student at the University of Montréal. His research focuses on questions related to international security and foreign affairs, particularly regarding de facto states. He is also interested in the Arabian-Persian Gulf and the Horn of Africa regions, which his Master’s thesis focused on. Financially supported by the Kuwait Program at Sciences Po, he conducted field work in Soudan, Djibouti, Somalia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. He interned at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi, and recently worked at the Delegation of the European Union to the UAE. Brendon holds a MA from the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) of Sciences Po Paris where he also got a BA. He speaks French, English and learns Arabic.
